he Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU Jakarta) will disseminate the campaign material of all of the city’s gubernatorial candidates through mass media from Jan. 29 to Feb. 11.
“The campaign team of each candidate has submitted the material to us. The KPU will facilitate the placement of the advertisements on several television stations, radio stations, newspapers and online media,” KPU Jakarta head Sumarno said at the KPU office in Salemba, Central Jakarta, on Monday.
He said the advertisements would feature the candidates’ identities, ballot numbers, visions, missions, working programs and calls for residents to vote for them.
“The maximum duration of each TV advertisement will be 30 seconds,” Sumarno said.
KPU Jakarta earlier said the maximum duration for radio advertisements would be 60 seconds. TV and radio advertisements may be broadcast up to 10 times. Based on the prevailing regulations, KPU Jakarta will bear all the costs of candidate campaign advertisements on mass media. However, Sumarno has not yet revealed the cost of the upcoming broadcasts.
