T

he Salatiga General Elections Commission (KPU Salatiga) has set its voter turnout target at 83 percent for the Salatiga mayoral election on Wednesday.

A total of 129,930 voters are expected to cast their votes in four districts, 23 subdistricts and 386 polling stations across the city.

Sidomukti district tops the list with 29,662 voters, followed by Argomulyo with 32,351 voters, Tingkir with 30,699 voters and Sidorejo with 37,218 voters.

With this 83 percent target, as many as 107,000 voters are expected to exercise their rights on election day.

“The 83 percent target is realistic. Based on our survey, Salatiga residents want to actively take part in voting for their leader for the next five years,” KPU Salatiga head Putnawati said recently, adding that KPU Salatiga had been continuously encouraging residents to cast their votes.

Those not registered in the final voter list (DPT) could come to the nearest polling station (TPS) by showing their identity card (KTP).

“They could register at the nearest TPS before noon. They could exercise their [right to] vote before the voting process finishes [at 1 p.m.],” said Putnawati.

There are two candidate pairs running for this year’s mayoral election, namely incumbent Yuliyanto-Muh. Haris and Agus Rudianto-Dance Ishkak Palit. (trw)
