he Jakarta administration will get involved in developing Jakarta soccer club Persija by working with young soccer players through the club’s youth soccer club.
“We could have talented soccer players that we trained on our own in the future,” said Jakarta Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat on Sunday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Djarot added that the club should recruit young players aged between 10 and 21 and train them in separate categories based on their age, such as U-10 (under 10-years-old) and U-17.
The recruitment and development of young players could give local players the chance to play soccer professionally.
Djarot previously planned to renovate soccer fields in 34 districts to facilitate youth activities.
He hoped that after the renovations were completed, the fields could serve as youth activity centers that helped prevent them from getting involved in negative activities such as drug use. (kkk)
