The farmers grew kale (kangkung), basil, chives along with other crops, Bayu Sari Hastuti, the head of Central Jakarta Food Security, Agriculture and Maritime Office, said on Tuesday as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
“We plan to grow chili there because it has a fast harvesting period, and it has good prices on the market,” he added.
Central Jakarta Mayor Mangara Pardede said the administration had provided seeds and fertilizer for the farmers. "The farmers also received training on how to grow the crops”, Mangara said.
The program adopts a profit sharing concept where the farmers secure 80 percent of the revenue while the administration gets 20 percent. (kkk/bbs)
