The inflation rate in Jakarta dropped significantly to 0.33 percent in February compared to 0.99 percent in January.
“The February inflation rate was caused by the increase in the price of clothing at 0.84 percent,” said Dewi Kundalini Saraswati, the distribution head of the Jakarta Central Statistics Agency, on Thursday.
The number was followed by inflation in housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel prices at 0.48 percent.
Dewi said one of the reasons for the high inflation rate in January was the rise in processing and extension fees for vehicle registration documents.
In February last year, Jakarta saw deflation of 0.06 percent, triggered by a decline in electricity rates.
According to the Central Statistics Agency, 62 out of 82 cities surveyed saw inflation in February. Jakarta was ranked 36th of 62.
