Thousand Islands regency now has some 50 public toilets for the comfort of residents and tourists.
Thousand Islands industry and energy subagency head Melinda Sagala said the total amount of money disbursed for the toilets was Rp 500 million (US$37,380).
“We hope residents and tourists can maintain the toilets,” Melinda said on Thursday.
The budget spent on the toilets came from Corporate Social Responsibility funds from a state-owned company, beritajakarta.com reported.
Melinda added that the toilets were built at separate locations in the regency, namely on Kelapa Island, Harapan Island, Panggang Island, Tidung Island, Sebira Island, Lancang Island, Payung Island, Pari Island and Pramuka Island. (fac)
