ndonesian driver Presley Martono is gearing up for his debut at the upcoming Eurocup Renault Formula 2.0 multi-event motor racing championship.
The 10-series of the 2017 championship season will stretch from April to October, featuring a list of world-class circuit tracks, including England’s Silverstone Circuit, Germany’s Nurburgring and Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
The 16-year-old will be driving for Mark Burdett Motorsport, along with his Polish partner, Julia Pankiewicz.
"I'm ready for a whole new experience," Presley said during a press conference on Thursday.
Presley said he had spent at least two hours daily in the last month to prepare for the competition. Training focused on hand, foot and neck exercises as these are essential for a driver during the race, he added.
Perry Martono, the driver’s father and manager, said he was optimistic that Presley would boost his skills during the race and achieve the best rookie status.
"Presley isn’t aiming to be the champion right now. We'll be lucky if he finishes as the best rookie," he said.
Presley and his father will depart to England on Sunday for preparations as pre-race testing will commence on March 15-16 at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours in France.
Thirty racers from nine teams will participate in the competition.
