Actress Dian Sastrowardoyo has raised a scholarship fund to celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day.
Under her scholarship program, the 35-year-old has invited donors to raise funds at a minimum value of Rp 20,000 (US$1.49) to support women’s education in Indonesia. The program, called Beasiswadian, is run under the support of Kitabisa.com, an online fundraising website.
“Since 2009, we, @beasiswadian, have been providing scholarships for women from poor families to get a higher education,” Dian said in a written statement quoted by kompas.com recently.
The scholarship awardees are interviewed by Dian directly to ensure the recipients chosen are women with a high enthusiasm to learn.
