T

he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has announced the extension of the detention period of Maritime Security Board (Bakamla) deputy chief Eko Susilo Hadi, who is implicated in a graft case related to the procurement of a satellite monitoring system.

KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah said the extension of the detention period would be given for 30 days, from March 15 to April 13. He further said that Eko had also proposed to become a justice collaborator in the case.

“We will consider his offer. We need to investigate him further because as a justice collaborator, a suspect must first admit his or her wrongdoing and provide detailed information about his or her case,” said Febri on Tuesday.

Apart from Eko, three other people have been named suspects by the KPK in the case. They are Hardy Stefanus, Fahmi Darmawansyah and Muhammad Adami Okta. The three suspects are from Merial Esa, a company that won the procurement project.

The case has also implicated the Bakamla’s head of planning and organization bureau, Commodore Bambang Udoyo. The Indonesian Military’s (TNI) military police (POM) have held Bambang at their detention facility since Jan. 5. Hardy, Fahmi and Muhammad Adami allegedly bribed top Bakamla officials in an attempt to rig bidding for the satellite procurement in favor of the company.

Febri said the KPK would work closely with the POM TNI in the case because the antigraft body could not investigate active military officials. (mrc/ebf)
