Tangerang to have sports center next year

esidents of Tangerang, Banten, will soon have a dedicated venue for physical exercise as the city administration plans to build a sports center next year that will be equipped with a soccer stadium.
“We will build a sports center next year but we have yet to finish the land acquisition. We are pushing property developer Alam Sutera to finish the job,” Tangerang Mayor Arief R. Wismansyah said as quoted by wartakotalive.com.
He added that planned location for the venue was a 10-hectare plot of land in Pinang district.
He added that the administration would soon transform the existing soccer facility, Benteng stadium, into a public park, because the building was no longer adequate for holding sporting events.
“The building is damaged. Besides, it’s often used as a place for mass brawls between soccer fans,” he said on Tuesday. (fac)
