The campaign team for the incumbent governor collected Rp 5 billion (US$374,981) in the first week of its crowdfunding strategy.
The campaign team of Jakarta gubernatorial candidate pair Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama-Djarot Saiful Hidayat announced on Wednesday that donations had been sent by bank and internet banking transfers because the team did not accept cash.
"We hope Jakartans can work together to help us ahead of the runoff," treasurer Charles Honoris said at the Rumah Lembang campaign team headquarters in Central Jakarta.
The team hopes to collect Rp 25 billion to fund campaign activities.
The team previously collected Rp 60.1 billion in public donation for the first round of the election, of which Rp 53.6 billion was spent on campaign activities.
The remaining Rp 4.8 billion was used as an initial fund for the runoff campaign and Rp 1.7 billion was handed over to the state treasury due to a lack of administrative documentation.
