he Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU Jakarta) is holding a training program for 30 election committee members at municipal and regency levels and 220 District Polling Committees (PPKs) to prepare them for the runoff election on April 19.
KPU Jakarta commissioner M. Sidik said his side would provide guidance on voting and vote recapitulation during a two-day program that began on Monday.
“We want to synchronize our perspectives on voting regulations,” Sidik said on the sidelines of the training at a hotel in Central Jakarta.
He said during the first round of the election on Feb. 15, many officers did not appear to understand voting requirements.
As an example, Sidik said some officers closed polling stations at 1 p.m. although there were ballots left and citizens were still lining up to exercise their voting rights.
Sidik added that other officers failed to properly fill in polling station forms, which affected the electronic recapitulation of votes.
