A

s hundreds of angkot (public minivan) drivers were planning to stage a rally protesting app-based transportation services on Thursday, Bogor Mayor Bima Arya ordered his subordinate to deploy cars to anticipate a lack of public transportation.

“I have gathered every agency, district and subdistrict head and ordered them to prepare their cars to help residents’ mobility,” he said Thursday as quoted by tempo.co.

Bima added that he would also check out the streets himself to make sure transportation services continued to operate in the city despite the rally plan.

A clash between angkot drivers and app-based ojek (motorcycle taxi) drivers broke out at Laladon public transportation terminal, Bogor regency, West Java, on Wednesday.

The clash started when a large group of ojek drivers marched toward City Hall to stage a protest, however as they passed the terminal, stones were thrown at them by angkot drivers.

The attack triggered a brawl between thousands of ojek and angkot drivers. (idb)
