ome 200 vehicles underwent an emissions test on Wednesday in an effort to reduce air pollution in the capital, the Jakarta Environmental Agency has stated.
"80 cars are [the agency's] operational vehicles, while the others belong to our employees," said the agency's environmental pollution mitigation division head, Agung Pujo Wijanarko.
By 12.30 p.m., he added, the agency had tested around 100 cars.
The test, which was conducted in cooperation with automotive company PT Astra International Daihatsu and Isuzu, was carried out to support the Environment and Forestry Ministry’s Langit Biru (Blue Sky) program.
Separately, agency deputy head Ali Maulana said the administration would repair operational vehicles that did not pass the test.
"Meanwhile, any private vehicles with high emissions are no longer allowed to park at our office," he added.
He said that the environmental agency would gradually test operational vehicles in other agencies, as well as in the city's garbage dump Bantar Gebang in the neighboring city of Bekasi, West Java.
