s many as 2,490 schools in Jakarta, or 100 percent of them, are properly equipped to organize computer-based national exams (UNBK) this year.
The figure is much improved compared to last year, where only 47 percent of schools were properly prepared.
According to Jakarta Education Agency deputy head Bowo Irianto, 1,106 junior high schools, 238 Islamic junior high schools, 470 senior high schools, 92 Islamic high schools and 584 vocational high schools are ready for the UNBK.
“We have prepared for months to make the exams 100 percent computer-based this year. We have also tried out the system on the nationally standardized school exams beforehand,” Bowo said as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.
The trial was conducted from March 20 to March 22 on vocational schools’ USBN.
No significant faults were uncovered during the trial, he said.
“We hope there will be no problems with the electricity or the server. If there are blackouts, the auto-save system will automatically save the work of the students. They will be able to continue their exams once the electricity is back on,” he said.
Altogether, 418,434 students in Jakarta will sit for the computer-based exams from April 3 to May 8. (dea)
