ome 85 kilometers of roads in Bekasi regency, West Java, have been left unpaved and unsupported by infrastructure like sidewalks and parks.
“About 85 km of the total of 929 km of roads in the regency are still dirt roads,” said the regency’s Planning and Development Agency (Bappeda)’s infrastructure and transportation division head Fuad Hasan.
Fuad added that the administration would work on the roads, first by dividing the region into four areas in order to ease the supervision of the work.
“The road infrastructure will be built gradually, the priority for which will be based on the results of meetings of the regional Development Planning Forum,” Fuad said.
The construction projects would be undertaken by the Bekasi regency’s Public Work and Spatial Planning Agency. Henry Lincoln, the secretary of the agency, said construction would need about Rp 500 billion (US$37.5 million), according to the agency’s projection, wartakota.tribunnews.com reported on Tuesday.
