T

he Jakarta Police Traffic Management Center (TMC) has announced that reports of a section of Jl. Jend. Gatot Subroto being closed for one month are false.

Previously, a text message claimed to have come from TMC officials said that a part of Jl. Jend. Gatot Subroto would be closed for a month due to the ongoing construction of an overpass in the area, raising protests from aggravated motorists.

As reported on TMC’s official website, ntmcpolri.info, the road was closed from April 7 to 11 during quiet hours, from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.

“The road closure [report] is a lie. It appears that someone tweaked the official announcement on our website and Twitter account then spread it on social media as false news,” TMC information and technology officer Comr. Mulyono said on Wednesday.

People should refer only to TMC’s Twitter or website for traffic updates, he said.

Mulyono said there were no immediate plans to close Jl. Jend. Gatot Subroto.

“Last night [April 11] was the last period of road closure. Should there be any changes, we will announce it through Twitter,” he said.
