ndonesia's top men's doubles duo Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon has secured a quarterfinals spot in the Singapore Open badminton tournament as they aim to nail their fourth consecutive victory.

Kevin and Marcus, who returned to number one in the world ranking after winning the Malaysia Open last week, outclassed Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi of Japan 21-12, 21-15 in a 29-minute match on Thursday.

On Friday, the Indonesians will face Lee Jhe Huei and Lee Yang of Taiwan. The pairs are equal on paper with a 2-2 record.

"We've met [the Taiwanese pair] before, so we pretty much know their strength and weakness. The Taiwanese duo has a strong smash and is persistent," said Kevin, who also won the 2017 All England and 2017 India Open with Marcus, as quoted by badmintonindonesia.org.

Besides Kevin and Marcus, Indonesian shuttlers will participate in five other matches in the quarters.

In men's singles, Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting will face South Korean Lee Dong Keun and Wong Wing Ki Vincent of Hong Kong.

Berry Angriawan and Hardianto will play against Goh V. Shen and Tan Wee Kiong of Malaysia in men's doubles, while Angga Pratama and Ricky Karanda Suwardi will meet Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen of China.

In mixed doubles, Praveen Jordan and Debby Susanto will face Dechapol Puavaranukron and Sapsiree Taerattanachai of Thailand.
