Japanese surfer Keijiro Nishi and Lucy Callister of Australia won the World Surf Qualifying Series 1000 recently held at Krui Beach, South Sumatra.

Lucy secured first place after beating Ellie Francis in the final round.

“I realize that I need to work hard to get this,” she said in a statement sent to The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.

Lucy said she had also brought her family members with her to the competition.

“The trophy is the best present for our family holiday,” she added.

Meanwhile, Keijiro and his rival Moses Le Grice battled it out in a tight final round, but Keijiro came out on top, distinguishing himself with his unique riding style.

The Krui beach in South Sumatra has become a favorite of surfers it offers dynamic swells with pristine beaches.
