ollowing positive response from passengers, bus operator PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) has started operating more “Vintage Series” buses in the capital.
The company launched in 2016 two vintage style buses that emulate the design of Jakarta Passenger Transportation (PPD) vehicles from the 1980s.
Transjakarta president director Budi Kaliwono said on Thursday that 10 additional buses are currently operating the first corridor, serving the Blok M-Kota route. The new buses can accommodate 65 to 70 passengers and are equipped with various features, including air suspension.
“In the near future, we will add four more vintage buses,” Budi said as quoted by beritajakarta.id.
Since their launch on Oct. 19, 2016, Transjakarta’s vintage buses have attracted many passengers with their “old-school” decorations.
Despite their antique design, the vintage series charge passengers the same fare as regular Transjakarta buses: Rp 3,500 (26 cents). (idb)
