akarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Mochamad Iriawan has stated sexually explicit messages and believed to have taken place between Islam Defenders Front (FPI) leader Rizieq Shihab and Firza Husein, a treason suspect, are authentic.

Police earlier this year summoned Firza for questioning after screenshots of what appears to be steamy WhatsApp chats between Rizieq and Firza were uploaded to the internet.

Firza was a coordinator of the Solidaritas Sahabat Cendana foundation, which is connected to the family of former president Soeharto.

The Jakarta Police summoned both Rizieq as well as his wife and Firza’s friend, whose name was mentioned in the chats, on Tuesday. However, none of them showed up.

“[If not from them], then who are these chats from?” Iriawan said on Thursday, adding there was no possibility that such chats had been fabricated.
