olice have dismissed reports of casualties stemming from the motorcycle convoy of hundreds of high school students celebrating their graduation in Jetis Village, Klaten regency, Central Java.
"I assure that there were no casualties from the convoy," Klaten Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. M. Darwis said on Thursday.
So far the only victims who have been reported to Klaten Police are three people suffering minor injuries from the convoy, he added.
The Klaten Police are still investigating the motorcade of high school students, whose graduation celebrations turned ugly on Tuesday. The students, wearing their uniforms, which were covered in spray paint messages and scribbles, reportedly ran amok and attacked local homes, vehicles and other high school students. Police have yet to name suspects in the case.
Police have apprehended and questioned 113 students, but most students returned home after making a statement accompanied by their parents.
"There are still 11 students who are being questioned," Darwis said.
The police have confiscated several items of evidence, including a sword, two gears tied to a belt, a traditional badik knife and wheel locks. The evidence was found along the route passed by the convoy. However, none of the arrested students have claimed ownership of the evidence. (dis)
