Talk of The Week: Top French brands dazzle Jakarta fashion lovers

French luxury jewelry and accessories brands Charriol, Mauboussin and Les Georgettes recently dazzled local fashion aficionados with their latest collections at Jakarta Baselworld 2017 held at The Papilion in Kemang.

The respective brands showcased their unique style for those who highly appreciate aesthetic beauty, quality and elegance.

Charriol showcased its unique cable design. Steel cable is the trademark of Charriol jewelry and timepieces.

Each model in the Rotonde collection, for example, displays screw-heads on the bezel, in a strong, contemporary design. A broad range of styles for men and women, from XL All Black to diamond pavé and rubber straps.

Phillippe Charriol, creator of the brand, took inspiration from centuries-old necklaces made by the Celts, a large group of Caucasian tribes in Europe. The ancient tribesmen had woven together twisted wires of gold to create a material not too dissimilar to cable and used it to adorn themselves.

Charriol took the cable concept and used it to create a watch strap that was totally unique in the marketplace. “Charriol was the pioneer in using cable concept but then some other brands copy it,” said Antoine Lecomte, sales director of Charriol for Asia Pacific.

The steel cable comes in different colors: black, bronze and gold. “Some may be allergic to a leather strap but using steel cable does not cause any harm to our skin, in addition to being lighter,” he said.

Charriol Boutiques include the one in Plaza Indonesia shopping mall, Jakarta.

Mauboussin’s signature collection on display included Ma Nouvelle Star c’est Toi, a silver carved ring with a gold star and fine jewels decorating it. “The carving motif was inspired by a series of ‘salome’, named after Queen Salome, a symbol of women appeal,” said a spokesman from Mauboussin.

Apart from the luxury rings, Mauboussin also displayed luxury timepieces, including the Mauboussin Fouga Chronograph series, which has a variety of materials integrated into the colors of the watch as well as the strap.

Mauboussin Boutique recently opened at Plaza Indonesia shopping mall, Jakarta.

Meanwhile, another French luxury brand, Les Georgettes, displayed its fine metalwork jewelry accessories such as rings, bracelets and handbags. Each piece is inset with vibrant, reversible and interchangeable leather bands, making for an extremely versatile accessory. The collection offers a selection of bracelets and rings.

The bracelets are available in a range of the latest shades, “our leather bands have a different color on each side and can be worn either side. We have 50 colors of leather band. Changing one band for another is a breeze. Just clip and unclip the leather band. Your Georgettes match your look,” said Les Georgettes Asia Pacific sales manager Elsa Pages.
