lack of street lamps might hinder the operation of PT Transportasi Jakarta's (Transjakarta) Corridor 13, which is expected to open up next month.
PT Transjakarta operational director Daud Joseph said recently that the procurement of the street lamps was under the authority of the city administration and without it, buses would not be able to operate at night.
He added that with the current condition, the corridor that connects Ciledug in Tangerang to Tendean in South Jakarta would only operate between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. With street lamps, he said, the hours of operation could extend to 11 p.m.
“Based on a safety study, it was not recommended that we operate Corridor 13 without lights,” he said as quoted by wartakota.com.
The ambitious project will connect Jl. Tendean and Jl. Ciledug in South Jakarta, with an estimated journey time of around 30 minutes. There will be 12 bus stations along the route, the operation of which is scheduled to start on June 22. (idb/wit)
