ith Ramadhan just around the corner, Bekasi Police chief Sr. Comr. Hero Bachtiar has told mass organizations (ormas) in the city to refrain from carrying out raids.
"I urge members of ormas to welcome the holy month without any raids," he said on Tuesday at his office as quoted by kompas.com.
Hero said the police would intensify efforts ahead of the fasting month to curb the distribution of alcoholic beverages and prevent mass brawls, adding that anyone committing such acts could be charged under the Criminal Code.
"To avoid such occurrences, please inform us of [ormas] activities. So that members of the organizations will not face criminal charges," he said.
On Tuesday, the Bekasi Police destroyed several kinds of drugs, including ecstasy and marijuana. (fac)
