fficers of the National Police’s Densus 88 counterterrorism squad searched a shop house on Jl. Sidomukti 33 Cemani, Grogol, Sukoharjo, on Monday following the arrest of terrorist suspect Wahyudi earlier that day.

The counterterrorism squad arrested Wahyudi, 30, and one of his colleagues, identified only as T, separately in Sukoharjo and Karanganyar over their alleged involvement in terrorism activities.

Wahyudi, a resident of Bugel village, Polokarto district, Sukoharjo, was arrested on Jl. Ciu, Sukoharjo, at 4:30 a.m. local time on Monday. It was suspected he was linked with a terrorist network led by Nur Solikhin.

Meanwhile, Densus 88 officers apprehended T, a resident of Watusambang in Plumbon village, Tawangmangu, Karanganyar, at his home after he performed the subuh (pre-dawn) prayer, also on Monday.

After the search, which began at 2 p.m., several fully armed police officers placed a yellow police line around Wahyudi’s shop house, where the terrorism suspect reportedly lived and ran a laundry service. Several police officers were seen on guard in the area around the shop house.

The police confiscated several items from the shop house during their search, which took about 90 minutes.

The laundry service’s owner, Ayu Detia, said she did not know what items the police had confiscated. “They tried to get Wahyudi’s passport, but they could not find it,” she said.

Wahyudi’s brother-in-law, Sarmadi, claimed no family members knew the whereabouts of their relative. “If he has been arrested, where is he being detained now? We want to know his condition,” said Sarmadi. (ebf)
