tate-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II (PT AP II) has offered incentives to airlines that open additional domestic flights departing from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport during the Idul Fitri, or lebaran, exodus.
APII has offered to scrap its landing fee and give a 50 percent discount on extension tariffs during operational hours for airlines willing to cooperate, particularly those operating narrow-body planes like the Boeing 737-800 NG or the Airbus A320
“The incentive is to help the smooth transportation of those who want to celebrate Idul Fitri in their hometowns and to anticipate the large influx of passengers during the peak season,” AP II president director Muhammad Awaluddin said in a statement.
The incentive is also part a wider effort to optimize the performance of airports operating under AP II’s management, he said, adding that the incentives might be expanded to encourage airlines to open more flights to tourist destinations.
“We hope incentives would encourage airlines to add flights or open new routes to support the government’s effort to boost the tourism industry,” said Awaluddin.
Previously, AP II had also given incentives to airlines that open international flights and help boost tourist arrivals. (bbn)
