Woman accused of stealing cosmetics

A
woman was arrested after being accused of stealing cosmetic products worth Rp 376,000 (US$28.30) from a supermarket in Central Jakarta on Monday.
The 43-year-old mother of two children has been accused of stealing cosmetics from a supermarket so that she could fence them and use the money to pay house rent, Tanah Abang Police criminal unit head Adj. Sr. Comr Mustakim said.
"It was not a big loss [for the store]. She [allegedly] only took face cleaner, shampoo and other cosmetic tools that cost about Rp 376,000. She [allegedly] stole them to pay for three months of house rent, while her husband is in jail for [alleged] theft," Mustakim claimed on Monday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
The woman's husband has been held for 40 days at the Tanah Abang Police station.
"We will release [the woman] after 24 hours because her [alleged] actions did not cause a big loss for the supermarket,“ Mustakim said. “She is to be released for humanitarian reasons.” (hol)
