ech-savvy President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has released a new vlog to provide an update on the progress of his administration’s infrastructure development projects in West Kalimantan.

In the video entitled #JKWVLOG Jalan Baru Kalimantan Barat (New Road in West Kalimantan) uploaded on his official Facebook page and YouTube channel on Wednesday, Jokowi shared the latest information on the development of a new road, which would connect Putussibau to Nanga Badau.

“In the last two-and-a half years, we have developed 1,900 kilometer-long roads in Kalimantan. We expect these roads, which are located in border areas, to push the creation of new economic growth centers,” Jokowi said in his video.

While most parts of the new road—which stretches 170-km—have been covered in asphalt, 27-km remain in the form of hardened soil.

The Public Works and Public Housing Ministry is developing the roads, with assistance from the Army.

“The ministry is ready to work day and night to complete [the project]. Here, I am accompanied by the minister,” Jokowi said, referring to Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimoeljono.

Jokowi shot the video himself with Basuki by his side, asking the minister to explain the government’s targets in relation to the completion of the road. The minister said the project would be completed by the end of 2017 or early 2018, at the latest. (ebf)
