T

he Rp 350 million (US$26,319.7) robbed from Davidson Tantono, 30, who was shot dead in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, on Friday, had been withdrawn to pay the salaries of the victim's employees, the police said.

"He withdrew the money to pay his employees' salaries," Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono told reporters.

Argo said the victim got out of his Toyota Innova at 1:30 p.m. at a gas station in Cengkareng, West Jakarta to check on the tires.

Perpetrators on two motorcycles then approached the victim and seized a bag containing the money from the car. The victim attempted to get the bag back but was then shot in the head.

"The perpetrators shot the victim and fled with the bag that contained Rp 350 million," Argo said.

The police are examining the crime scene and questioning witnesses to track down the suspects.

The victim's body will be taken to the National Police Hospital in Kramatjati, East Jakarta to undergo a medical examination. (fac)
