orruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators apprehended three people for alleged involvement in a graft case in Bengkulu early on Friday.
“We arrested a procurement official, a law enforcement official and a private company official during the raid,” KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah said on Friday.
The three people, Bengkulu Prosecutors’ Office’ intelligence division head, identified by his initials, PP, a Bengkulu-office Public Works and Public Housing Ministry’s Sumatra River Agency official identified as AA and a contractor from a private company were arrested at 12:30 a.m. local time on Friday.
The investigators also confiscated a Pajero and a sum of money as evidence during the raid. They took the three people to the anti-graft body’s headquarters in Jakarta for a further questioning.
According to the Criminal Code (KUHAP), the KPK has 24 hours before it names a person arrested as a suspect in a case.
Febri has yet to provide details about the arrest. "We will tell you more information later today,” he said.
Friday’s raid in Bengkulu was the second raid conducted by the KPK in the past week. On Monday, the anti-graft body conducted raids in Surabaya and Malang, East Java, where its investigators apprehended six legislative and executive officials over alleged bribery. The KPK later named the six suspects arrested in the case. (kuk/ebf)
