T

he Jakarta Police will allow residents to leave their private vehicles at police stations throughout the city for safekeeping before leaving for their hometowns as part of the mass exodus, which usually starts two weeks before Idul Fitri.

“If residents are worried about leaving their vehicles at home, please entrust it to the police stations, which have wide [parking] areas. Inform us how long it will be entrusted, and it is free,” said Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono on Saturday, as quoted by kompas.com.

Furthermore, Argo reminded residents who want to go back to their hometowns for Idul Fitri to check the security condition around their homes to prevent unwanted accidents.

He reminded them not to forget to lock doors, turn off electricity and stoves and close windows.

To prevent robberies, the police will also increase their patrol in residential areas so people should not be worried while spending time away from their homes. (wnd/wit)
