akarta’s 490th anniversary will be enlivened by the annual Jakarta Great Online Sale (JGOS), which will indulge customers with items from numerous online shops discounted up to 95 percent from Thursday to June 22.

Being held for the fifth time, the online sale, which is supported by the Trade Ministry, Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives (SMESCO) and the Jakarta administration will have 150 e-commerce businesses and marketplaces participating.

"JGOS aims to build public trust toward online shopping and promote the products of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) so that they will become widely known,” Jason Lamuda, Berrybenka CEO, said while launching the program on Thursday.

Trade Ministry director for enterprise development, Fetnayeti, said this program would facilitate the SMEs to prepare themselves for entering the digital market.

The ministry would use this event to inform SMEs about the draft government regulation concerning trade transactions through electronic systems, she added.

The grand sale involves numerous prominent online shops, such as fashion trader Berrybenka, beauty care center Sociolla and airline service Garuda Indonesia.
