T

he Jakarta Transportation Agency has prepared 3,674 buses to be used for mudik, the annual homecoming exodus during Idul Fitri, for residents of Jakarta this year.

“The bus fleet comprises 3,111 regular buses. We’re also preparing an additional 250 buses from PPD [Jakarta Passenger Transportation], PT Mayasari Bakti and PT Sinar Jaya Megah Langgeng,” the agency’s head, Andri Yansyah, said at the Pulo Gebang bus terminal in East Jakarta on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.

Meanwhile, the remaining 313 buses will be tourist buses, to be used if there is an increase in passenger numbers, he added.

Eight bus terminals will serve passengers during the homecoming season, expected to start around June 23, according to Andri.

The terminals are three main terminals: Pulo Gebang, Kampung Rambutan and Kalideres; as well as five supporting terminals: Pinang Ranti, Tanjung Priok, Muara Angke, Grogol and Lebak Bulus.
