T

he police are set to make a sketch of the person believed to have thrown acid onto the face of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan.

Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said on Thursday that the sketch would be based on information from a person, who he only identified as E, deemed to be a key witness in the case.

“We will review [the testimony of E] again. We will create the sketch,” Argo said as quoted by kompas.com.

Argo said that E had performed dawn prayers together with Novel at the Jami Al Ihsan mosque in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, on April 11, the day when Novel was attacked.

E reportedly left the mosque earlier and saw a person in front of Novel’s house.

Even though it was dark and the person’s head was bowed, E told the police he had seen the person’s face, Argo said.

The police are yet to name a single suspect in Novel’s case.

Several people have been questioned in connection to the case, but none have been charged.

As one of the KPK's top investigators, Novel led investigations into several high-profile cases, including the ongoing e-ID embezzlement case that has implicated several lawmakers and high-ranking government officials. (cal)
