wo workers and five visitors of the Cipatugura coal-fired power plant (PLTU) in Pelabuhan Ratu, West Java, were rescued on Thursday after getting trapped inside an elevator shaft in the plant’s chimney for around 24 hours.
West Java Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Yusri Yunus said the rescue was made at the height of 210 meters.
“They are in stable condition with little trauma and dehydration,” he said, adding that search-and-rescue personnel had assisted in the rescue operation.
The absence of emergency stairs in the chimney forced the rescue team to rescue the workers using a rope, he added.
