he government has officially announced that this year’s Idul Fitri falls on Sunday, following an isbat (confirmation) meeting held by the Religious Affairs Ministry on Saturday evening.
In a press conference, Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin said that all of the six sworn observers reached the same conclusion and the Indonesians would perform the Ied prayer on Sunday.
The isbat meeting was also attended by representatives of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and several Islamic organizations.
