akarta and its surrounding areas, like Tangerang, Bekasi and Bogor, will see light rains on the morning of Idul Fitri, which is believed to fall on Sunday, during which Muslims perform Idul Fitri mass prayer.
The weather prediction was made by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on Saturday, which also said that Depok, south of Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands in North Jakarta would be cloudy in the morning.
“There are some regions which have potential to see rain. If there are some places plan to do prayers outdoor, please anticipate the rain by preparing tents,” said BMKG spokesperson Harry Tirto.
The Idul Fitri day has yet to be officially decided, pending a confirmation meeting, known as Isbat, set to be held by the religious affairs ministry and the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) on Saturday evening that will also involve some Islamic mass organizations.
The temperature prediction for all Greater Jakarta regions remains at high of up to 30 degrees Celsius despite the rain, according to BMKG.
Harry suggested people keep an eye on the weather prediction to prepare themselves for the prayer. (ipa)
