he odd-even license plate policy, which limits the number of vehicles on Jakarta's main thoroughfares during busy hours, will not be implemented throughout the Idul Fitri holiday period, an official has said.
The new policy is effective for five working days starting on Friday.
"From today until Saturday next week, the odd-even plate policy is not being applied," Adj. Sr. Comr. Budiyanto, the head of law enforcement at the Jakarta Police traffic unit, said in a press statement on Friday.
The odd-even traffic management scheme is currently enforced along Jakarta’s main thoroughfares, Jl. MH Thamrin and Jl. Sudirman.
"This odd-even system has been applied for 10 months, therefore it's important to inform the public that the scheme will not be implemented on those days," Budiyanto said.
