tate-owned oil and gas company Pertamina says it guarantees enough stocks of safe fuel would be available for travelers returning from their hometowns after the Idul Fitri holidays.

Pertamina president director Elia Massa Manik said in Jakarta on Sunday that it had formed a special task force, which included him and two other directors, that woul remain on duty during the holidays to monitor the fuel stocks.

“We in the task force do not take breaks. We are all standing by, including our retail and marketing divisions, from June 10 to July 11,” said Elia as quoted by kompas.com.

According to the task force’s assessment, Elia said he could guarantee that fuel distribution would remain stable until the end of the season.

“Usually, the [Idul Fitri] return flow sees fewer travelers as about 20 percent of them stay home and do not return after their homecoming trip.”.

Elia said he also visited Pertamina’s Plumpang fuel depot in North Jakarta on the eve of Idul Fitri to check on the depot’s preparations for fuel distribution during the exodus.

The Plumpang depot distributes 14,250 kiloliters of fuel on average per day to 876 gas stations around Greater Jakarta and Bogor and Sukabumi in West Java.

“We have been going all out to maximize our operational units to provide fuel for citizens traveling home to meet their relatives in their hometowns,” he said. (dea/tas)
