resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will spend the third day of his Idul Fitri holidays with family members in his hometown of Surakarta, Central Java, on Tuesday.
Jokowi and First Lady Iriana arrived in Surakarta on Monday after spending the first day of Idul Fitri hosting an open house event at the State Palace on Sunday.
Presidential Office press bureau head Bey Machmudin, who is now in Surakarta with Jokowi, said the President would stay at home to celebrate the Idul Fitri festivity, locally known as Lebaran, with his relatives.
“The President’s agenda today is all about Lebaran,” Bey said.
Bey added that the President and the First Lady would return to Jakarta on Thursday.
Departing from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in East Jakarta on Tuesday, Jokowi and Iriana arrived at the Adi Soemarno Air Force Base in Boyolali, Central Java, at 12:05 p.m.
“They went straight to [Jokowi's] home in the Sumber area of Surakarta,” Bey said in a statement released on Monday, adding that the President also visited his mother, Sujiatmi Notomihardjo, whose house is located near his own residence, in the afternoon. (ary)
