bus crew has complained that people were still unaware that the government had started operating Pulo Gebang bus terminal in East Jakarta, with many thinking that the bus still departed from Pulo Gadung terminal.
Pulo Gebang bus terminal, which is thought to be the largest bus terminal in Southeast Asia, has been in operation since December 2016.
"People still think we operate buses from Pulo Gadung terminal. The relocation of [the bus service] has not been well-communicated to the people,” said Martahan, who works for bus operator Sahabat, on Wednesday.

He added that the condition had affected the revenues of buses and their crews, as they had expected more passengers during the Idul Fitri season. He said Sahabat operated only 10 buses from Pulo Gebang terminal during Idul Fitri this year, compared to 70 buses from Pulo Gadung last year.
Transportation Ministry secretary general Sugihardjo, who visited Pulo Gebang bus terminal on Wednesday, acknowledged the poor dissemination of public information on the new terminal.
Sugihardjo promised to increase efforts to inform the public about the new terminal's operation, including displaying notices on accessing the terminal via Transjakarta bus services. "We have to inform the people more about the transitional period [of the move to Pulo Gebang], including how to access the terminal," he said. (rdi/bbn)
