he Bali Police drug squad has seized more than 8.4 kilograms of marijuana from a boarding house in Denpasar, part of a drug trade believed to be controlled by a criminal behind bars.
The marijuana is believed to have been distributed to several areas in Denpasar, including some tourist areas. The police raided a house last Friday and arrested a 22-year-old man identified only as RFI. It is alleged that RFI worked as a courier for the owner of the illicit drugs.
“As a courier, RFI is controlled by someone in Kerobokan prison,” the Bali Police narcotics directorate deputy director, Adj. Sr. Comr. Sudjarwoko, told a press conference on Tuesday.
Sudjarwoko said RFI was arrested at his boarding house in the Sesetan area of south Denpasar. The marijuana was found stashed in a car.
“RFI admitted that he received Rp 1.5 million (US$112) for bringing the marijuana from Pasuruan in East Java to Bali,” Sudjarwoko explained.
The police have also arrested three others living at the same boarding house. They were found with marijuana in their possession.
