Transjakarta bus driver, identified only as SS, reportedly stole a Transjakarta bus from its depot in Cijantung, East Jakarta, and drove it to Pekalongan in Central Java after hearing “supernatural voices”.
Ciracas Police chief Comr. Tuti Aini in East Jakarta, who followed SS to Pekalongan, said she could track the perpetrator’s position using the bus’ GPS signal. PT Mayasari Bhakti, an operator of Transjakarta busses, reported the theft of the vehicle to police on Wednesday afternoon.
“Personnel from Ciracas Police and some Mayasari Bhakti staff members immediately went to Pekalongan after coordinating with Pekalongan Police,” Tuti said, as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com. She added that SS and the bus he stole were already at the Pekalongan police office by the time the entourage arrived.
“His motive is still vague. We have yet to conduct a proper investigation, but he did mention that he had stolen the bus because of hearing supernatural whisper,” Tuti further explained.
If found guilty, SS could be charged under Article 363 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) on theft, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison. (vny)
