S

tate-owned energy company Pertamina is set to expand its single-fuel price program to two remote areas in West Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan.

Pertamina general manager of marketing operations Yanuar Budi Hartanto said that to expand the program, Pertamina would construct gas stations in Paloh district, Sambas Regency in West Kalimantan and in Danau Sembuluh district, Seruyan regency, Central Kalimantan.

“The company will cooperate with local entrepreneurs to distribute the fuel. The gas station in Paloh has passed the test. We are ready to launch,” Yanuar said in Balikpapan on Monday.

The Paloh gas station will sell non-subsidized gasoline (Pertalite) and subsidized diesel fuel (Solar) that will be supplied from a fuel terminal in Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

Meanwhile, a gas station in Danau Sembuluh will sell more types of fuels – subsidized gasoline (Premium), Pertalite, non-subsidized diesel fuel (Dexlite) and Solar.

The station will be supplied from a fuel terminal in Sampit, Kotawaringin Timur regency, in Central Kalimantan.

The government plans to introduce the program in 150 remote regencies by 2019, but 90 leaders of other regencies have demanded the program be implemented in their regions as well. So far, 54 agencies have been established.

The targeted regions of the program will charge the same price for fuel, set at Rp 6,450 (48 US cents) per liter for the subsidized premium gasoline and Rp 5,150 per liter for the subsidized diesel fuel.

Under a market mechanism, the price of premium gasoline, for example, could reach Rp 50,000 per liter because of lack of transportation in Paloh. (bbn)
