he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested on Friday Maritime Security Board (Bakamla) official Nofel Hasan for his alleged involvement in a graft case surrounding the board’s project to procure a satellite monitoring system.
“He will be detained for 20 days at Guntur detention center,” KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah told reporters at the agency’s headquarters.
Nofel, who serves as Bakamla’s bureau head of planning and organization, was named as a suspect in the case on April 12. He stands accused of accepting US$104,500 in bribe money in his capacity as the official in charge of the project.
The KPK has so far named five suspects in the case, including businessman Fahmi Darmawansyah, who was sentenced to two years in prison for his crimes. The Indonesian Military (TNI) has also charged Bakamla’s director of data and information, Commodore Bambang Udoyo, for his role in the case.
