issan Motor Indonesia (NMI introduced on Tuesday its Note e-Power hybrid hatchback at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).

The Note e-Power is equipped with e-Power technology developed by the automaker. The technology allows the hatchback to fully operate by electric motors, with a 1.2-liter engine intermittently providing electrical charges to the battery, which has a 1.5-kilowatt hour capacity.

NMI president director Eiichi Koito said the technology offered an innovative solution in a growing market like Indonesia.

“E-Power [technology] is one example of a possible solution for a growing market like Indonesia to become a bridge toward vehicles that are fully operated by electricity,” he said.

Masayuki Ohsugi, NMI’s general manager of research and development, said the hatchback could travel up to 40 kilometers in a single battery charge and – during a test in Japan – up to 1,300-km with a full tank and battery charge.

Koito did not provide details on its price or when the hatchback would be available in Indonesia. (mrc/bbn)
