rison overcrowding puts the safety of both inmates and staff members at risk, as poor prison conditions may lead to riots and even deaths.
Poor access to essential needs will hopefully no longer be the case for inmates in Indonesia as local authorities are prepared to build new prisons.
Muarojambi Regent Masnah Busyroh said the construction of a new penitentiary, located on a highway to Kualatungkal in Bukit Baling village, Muarojambi, would take place in 2018.
“The Muarojambi administration has prepared 7.5 hectares of land [for the prison],” the regent said on Friday.
Masnah further said the Muarojambi administration was in the process of completing the land grant process with the hope that the construction of the prison could be conducted next year.
