adminton’s team competition will commence Tuesday at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Kuala Lumpur and team Indonesia is fit and ready for the battle, says a team manager.
“All shuttlers are in good shape. Overall, preparations went well, and we’re ready to compete,” team manager Susy Susanti said Monday.
The women’s team won’t play in Tuesday’s quarterfinal, as it earned a semifinal spot following the withdrawal of Laos. Meanwhile, the men’s team will play Cambodia on Tuesday afternoon.
The men’s team, which aims to win a gold medal, will likely have an easy opener against Cambodia. On paper, Indonesia, which is predicted to advance, will likely face its archrival Malaysia in the semifinals.
Nevertheless, Susy told her shuttlers to remain humble.
“Being solid and maintaining communication is the key to victory,” she added.
The individual events in badminton will run from Saturday to Aug. 29.
