A dead baby boy was found inside a black bag floating near the Kali Baru sluice gate in East Jakarta on Thursday.
Kramatjati Police criminal investigation unit chief Adj. Comr. Bambang said the baby was found by a sluice gate cleaner called Slamet Riyadi at 6 a.m.
“Slamet saw a big black bag floating when he was cleaning the bank of Kalibaru,” Bambang said.
Slamet found a sarong, a T-shirt, trousers and a veil with the baby.
“After the sarong was unwrapped, Slamet found the dead baby boy with the umbilical cord wrapped around the neck,” said Bambang as quoted by kompas.com.
The baby was taken to the Kramatjati Police Hospital in East Jakarta. [syl]
